Day 77

Day 77 (16th October)

Almost the entire day was consumed in setting the question paper for the mid-semester test. Work expanded to fill the time. Parkinson’s Law can never be wrong. I am setting tricky questions, strewing some red herrings along the way. Questions that test the grasp of fundamentals. Questions that demand full attention in the class. Questions that are neither straight nor wicked.

Day 86

Day 86 (7 th October) Today was the kind of day when I did not achieve much; yet I didn’t waste my time. Preparation for tomorrow’s lecture brought fresh insights. This is the joy of teaching. PS – This blog is now 2 weeks old and it is helping me to channelise my positive energy.

Day 93

Day 93 (30 th September) The day was consumed in preparing for tomorrow’s class, always a learning experience. Ryder Cup action played out in the background. I look for new things to present and new ways of presenting old things. I have complete autonomy in that I don’t have to follow any set syllabus or a prescribed textbook. Identifying and locating information is the easy part. Presenting them in a lucid way is the challenging part. Sometimes the presentation just assembles itself intuitively.

Day11

Day 11 (21st December)  Mailed the AI column. Looking for a title. Asked twitter, but got no response. I have couple of ideas in mind and will choose one.  Received a proper consulting request. Well more or less. Responded tersely because I am not desperate. Meeting with good friend at a bar that serves exotic craft beers. The place was overrun by women in early 40s celebrating silver jubilee of their class reunion. Almost all of them were surprisingly trim.
